Aimee Ruddy

Centre Director

I am originally from Northern Ireland, but Melbourne has been my home now for over 10 years. I have close to 8 years experience working in Early Childhood Education and I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts specialising in Ceramics, coupled with a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education.

As an Early Childhood Educator, I feel honoured to play an important role in the lives of young children by giving them the best start to life. As a Centre Director and leader in the Early Childhood sector, I aim to support and advocate for the rights of young children to be safe, to play; and to grow and flourish in environments that offer quality education and real care.

I have a personal interest and passion for inclusive learning environments and educational programs that capture children’s imagination and creativity, while allowing children to express themselves as individuals.

Committee of Management

Elwood Children’s Centre is a not-for-profit, community-run childcare service - which means that parents and the community have the option to join the Committee of Management (CoM) each year. This enables the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of the values and philosophy of Elwood Children’s Centre and positively influence children’s education and outcomes.

Our Executive committee consists of a Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer plus additional general members.

The CoM meets regularly and in partnership with Centre Management. We ensure that the centre is financially viable, the building and its contents are maintained and insured, the centre is marketed and promoted and the safety and wellbeing of staff and children remain a priority.

The excellent standard that families enjoy today is due to the dedication and enthusiasm of past parents, committees and staff.

If you are interested in joining the CoM or would like further information, please contact us at elwoodcccom@gmail.com
