Tara Winslow

CENTRE DIRECTOR

I started working with young children in 2007 and continue to appreciate working in the early learning sector. I believe young children are incredible human beings that we cannot only teach, however learn from. Children often remind me to enjoy the present moment and take on new challenges. They inspire me to learn new and interesting things, from the different types of trains in the world, to how to save animals from extinction.

I believe educators, families and the individual child are co-educators in creating a meaningful learning environment within our community and it is a pleasure to support and work alongside everyone.

Aimee Smith

assistant director & EDUCATIONAL LEADER

I am a Bachelor qualified educator specialising in Early Childhood Education. I am from New Zealand but now call Melbourne ‘home’. I have over 7 years of experience in the industry, working with children of all ages, in various education and care settings internationally.

In my role, I am eager to gain new knowledge and expand my own teaching pedagogy; as well as to inspire, motivate, and inject healthy challenge into our team's personal philosophy and practice.

I aspire to strengthen our networks within our community and establish connections that will enhance learning opportunities for children and educators. I work closely with the coordinator, leadership team, and parent committee to celebrate the strengths of all of our incredible educators, provide support where needed, and work together to continue providing quality education and care for our children.

Committee of Management

Elwood Children’s Centre is a not-for-profit, community-run childcare service - which means that parents and the community have the option to join the Committee of Management (CoM) each year. This enables the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of the values and philosophy of Elwood Children’s Centre and positively influence children’s education and outcomes.

Our Executive committee consists of a Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer plus additional general members.

The CoM meets regularly and in partnership with Centre Management. We ensure that the centre is financially viable, the building and its contents are maintained and insured, the centre is marketed and promoted and the safety and wellbeing of staff and children remain a priority.

The excellent standard that families enjoy today is due to the dedication and enthusiasm of past parents, committees and staff.

If you are interested in joining the CoM or would like further information, please contact us at elwoodcccom@gmail.com
